"THE SNOOPY DENTIST"
Why
Snoopy and Pediatric Dentistry?
In 1967, while
serving with the Navy in Japan, Dr. Spencer
treated the dependent children of Navy
families stationed overseas. He hung a
smiling Snoopy greeting card from his dental
light & found it worked wonders with the
young patients. Snoopy has been Dr.
Spencer's dental "mascot" ever since. This
office contains hundreds of Snoopys and
Woodstocks which both patients and parents
enjoy and for this reason is often referred
to as the "Snoopy Office" or "The
Snoopy Dentist". Patients wearing
Snoopy shirts, etc., or bringing their
favorite Snoopy toy with them to the office
can expect to have their picture taken for
the wall. In 1983 Dr. Spencer drew the "dog
house-dog bowl with toothbrush" logo that this office continues to use. He opened this Walnut Creek pediatric dental practice in 1973. Dr. Spencer named his practice
Walnut Creek Pediatric Dentistry in 1995. In 1990 Dr. Spencer received
a personalized and
autographed poster of Snoopy with braces
from Snoopy's creator, the late Charles
Schulz.
